- Peel and finely chop the onions and peel and crush the garlic cloves. add to the pan with some olive oil and cook the onions and garlic until soft over a medium high heat.
- Add the beef mince to the onions and garlic. Cook with regular stirring to break up the mince until the mince is brown. Grate the carrot into the mixture and stir until well mixed.
- Once the mince has browned add both tins of tomatoes, tomato puree, red wine and oregano. Bring to the boil then turn down the heat and leave to simmer for about an hour until the sauce is thick and rich. Once the sauce is thick turn down the heat to just keep the mixture warm. If using dried basil add in now and stir.
- Cook your pasta according to the packet instructions. Once ready drain and serve. Serve your pasta and bolognese and sprinkle with roughly torn basil leaves.
